This qualification provides the training to enable to work under different community settings with the people under different forms of disability. The qualification enables the workers to emphasise greater independence, participation and personal wellbeing of the client they are to serve. Focusing on personal-centric approach, individuals will be able to grasp varieties of knowledge and skills in both theory and practical. On completion of this course, you will embrace yourself with essential skills and knowledge to deliver the care for those requiring physical, social, emotional, spiritual and psychological needs. On completion of this course, you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to provide support and care to disable clients to ensure their needs are met.

Enrolment Process

As we are domestic RTO, you can either visit our office during office hours or apply online by clicking HERE.

Once we receive your enrolment form, you are assessed on language literacy and numeracy to determine if you have the required English reading, writing and numeracy levels. Also, we will fix an interview to have a discussion with you to understand your English speaking skills and identify study goals. In the interview, we will

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course; however, it is recommended that students:

  • are at least 18 years old
  • have proficient computer skills with internet access and have a valid USI.

Additionally, you need to attend and achieve satisfactory result on language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) test and achieve the following ACSF Levels-

Learning – Level 3,
Reading – Level 3,
Writing – Level 3,
Oral Communication – Level 3
Numeracy – Level 3

Students will be required to obtain Australian National Criminal History Check at their own cost. The cost varies where you process the application. For instance, the NSW Police charges $58.60 as of March, 2020.  (There is no standard timeframe that a police check result is valid for. A police check is considered a ‘point in time’ check only, which means the results only reflect police records on the date and time the result is released. The organisation that requires the police check will typically determine the timeframe acceptable for a police check result to be valid, based on their own risk assessment or operational requirements.) Students also need Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearances (If cleared, a check is valid for 5 years if you purchase the, however cleared applicants are continuously monitored.)

Course Duration

The course duration is up to one year. Since it is a competency-based course, the actual time students complete the course however depends upon the delivery mode and individual experiences. The duration is the maximum time they should finish the course. To achieve the qualification, students are required to complete the specified hours of volume of learning as per the training package. Students must have completed at least 120 hours of work placement as detailed in the assessment’s requirement of the units of competency. For the distance students, they have to complete additional 40 hours in the work placement, requiring 160 hours in total.

Study Modes

Blended – Combination of face to face and online (who can attend class in Sydney Campus)

Practical/Simulation – All the units have a practical components; students must attend the simulation classes in person. For those students who are from Sydney region, they have to attend the practical/simulation at the Advance College and for others who are from distance should visit the facility designated by us.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of prior learning is an assessment process that involves assessment of an individual’s relevant prior learning (including formal, informal and non-formal learning), skills, knowledge and experiences to determine to meet the requirement of qualification or to get credit outcomes of an individual application for credit.

Credit Transfer

Advance College has an obligation to recognise Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other registered training organisations.
